Been putting together an Airfix model of a Typhoon, fairly simple kit really but it's a while since i did any and had this lying around.
Took my time, painted properly, made sure I didn't use too much glue etc
Touched in a couple of chipped areas this evening with a fine brush. Was really proud of it as I started to cut out the transfers.
Left the first one to soak and it needed quite a while to become free of the backing.
I carefully placed it on the wing, started to slid the backing away while holding it with a brush but it was still a little difficult to apply and then it happened.
I caught the model with my hand, sent it sliding over the kitchen bench and onto the floor....
Bits everywhere, some broken rather than the glue breaking and one wheel and under carriage lost completely.
Couldn't believe how much mank and dog hair was under the cooker, along with dog biscuit, lego, visitor card....and the wheel and under carriage. Still at least I have the area under the cooker cleaned.

When I was a teenager many moons ago I built a control-line model. It took months to build and when it was finished I couldn't wait to fly it. I phoned my mate and arranged to meet at the local playing field for its maiden flight. I only had a pushbike for transport so held it by the fuselage one wing up one wing down. I was about half way to the playing field when the hooks on the end of the controls hooked onto the spokes in the back wheel and pulled the plane out of my hand and shredded it to matchwood.
Many many moons ago when I was a teenager I built a submarine.
It had a thin aluminium rod attached to the front hydrovane with a small rectangle of plastic attached to the top of the rod.
When the sub reached the depth where the plastic rectangle touched the surface of the water, the drag effectively caused the front pair of hydrovanes to swivel up so bringing the sub back to the surface. So the sub 'porpoised' down and up continually.
It was all tested and balanced successfully in the bath. I took it up to Whitestone pond in Hampstead, put it in the water .....
..... and never saw it again :-( .
