This one is to go with the Albatros for the boy’s WW1 school project. Running out of time now, and decals impossible to source (this was another “spruces only” kit picked up from Airfix at Telford a while back). I’ll try to find some spare roundels.

Oil paint woodgrain and rigging now bludgeoned into submission.

Despite its age, it’s another really good, delicate looking kit. I’ve seen them with replacement cockpit sides and sanded surface details, but they look great as they are to me. With a few other refinements it would stand comparison with the state of the art, once assembled.

Maybe - pretty sure he won't fit in the seat!

Well done - very nostalgic! I made lots of WW1 planes as a teenager, including a Sopwith Pup with scratchbuilt wings because it was a modified Triplane kit (before the Airfix Pup) I also managed a Hansa Brandenburg "Star Strutter" from drawings in a magazine. I also spent ages improving some 1/48 kits by Aurora - truly dreadful examples of early plastic kits with spindly propellers and wings like plastic planks. (maybe should have done more school work!)
