Technic Lego - £150 to spend...
Discussion
Ok, as per thread title, I have £150 from work as an Xmas gift to spend on Technic Lego - what’s the current best “bang for buck” so to speak? I’m not adverse to buying Lepin / Dacool instead... really I’m after something large is hand impressive to build over Xmas / new year.
FWIW I’m leaning towards either the Porsche or one of the big Star Wars UCS sets in “fake” Lego or the Claas tractor or bucket excavator in “real”, although the latter is underpowered I hear... my son would love me to get a tractor but Lego don’t really do a big one apart from the class at the moment.
I already have the 7965 Falcon and 9493 X Wing as well as quite a few of the smaller Star Wars sets - is the UCS falcon really worth getting if you already have the “small” one??
Any opinions?

The Claas is a nice build and a good size when complete but for £150, I'd be tempted by the Mercedes Arocs set (42043)...

Having owned most of the flagship Technic sets for the past few years I'd recommend the Merc Arocs as well.
The combination of motorised + pneumatic functions as well as the 4WS and 4WD with suspension on all axles is excellent.
If I could only keep one Technic set it would be the Merc. But the Porsche looks very cool

Id go Lego porsche.
I dont have experience with the lepin/decool porsche, but i did buy a decool motorcycle early this year, quality sucked to the point where just rolling the thing a few inches would cause the chain to snap itself off, the gears dont mesh together well, the plastic castings have rough edges, colour variations etc..

I'd go down the Lepin route to be honest, far more bang for the buck and the quality isn't so poor that it's a bad experience. I've done the AT-ST, R2D2 and Imperial Star Destroyer. All very good sets, the ISD needed to be glued, but I understand the genuine Lego version isn't any better, the build method is just not strong enough, but as a complete item it's the most impressive I've built. I do have the new UCS MF to build (that was a Christmas gift from my wife, so have to wait a few weeks).
For what you want to spend, I'd look at the Lepin Super Star Destroyer, or a few of the smaller UCS fighters, if you do this, be sure to get Slave 1, as that's a really good fun build and looks great complete.
