Having enjoyed building the corvette I thought I'd try another car. What could be more pistonheads than an MX5.

Some sprue shots.

And the body

And the decals. A really nice touch is the die cut mask for the windscreen

I started with the front suspension sub assembly

Then the rear

Thought I'd try a trial assembly

Unfortunately the floor pan isn't just black. So after quite a bit of masking.

A bit more assembly

Final bit of progress so far is painting the body.

Well you've certainly picked the best colour.

Ah, Tamiya! A joy of fit and quality!

Great colour! Are you going to polish the lacquer?

I made a bit of progress over the weekend.

A few bits and bobs to finish and it should be completed tonight.

I won't be polishing it no. It will end up looking worse if I try....

Is that an aftermarket hairdresser or does it come with the kit? smile

Nice work again!

I must admit the Corvette was pretty amazing as my memory of Revell is they were always a bit rubbish, but it looked great as you built it.

I kind of expect Tamiya to look good (Although I reckon it must be 35 years since I last built a kit! redface )

The corvette was a nice kit, but this is another level. I started it last Wednesday and its almost done. Its one of those things where it builds so nicely you just get sucked in and crack on with it. Its twice the price of the corvette. Is the model twice as nice?

I'll let you decide.

The Hairdresser was included.

Great job! Looks like you did the panel lines too, nice crisp finish.

If you are getting into cars I would suggest trying to polish the lacquer. Just some Autoglym paint renovator and an old cotton T Shirt and rub away for a few hours! You'll be amazed at the results!
