Not a kit but a lashed together model using a ping pong ball and assorted plastic card and stretched sprue. It works out at around 1/15 scale.

The beep that shocked Americans and spurred on one of man kinds most incredible feats. Great little self-made model.

The aerials are a bit "bendy". I plan to replace them with something better soon.

The 60th Anniversary of the launch of Sputnik 1 is only a few days away so it would be nice to have it finished properly by then.

Nice one Eric.

You've got just over 3 1/2 years to come up with a Vostock one now.

I have the old VEB Vostok spacecraft kit in the loft. I actually built one of those in the 1980s and it was pretty decent. I did build the 1/144 Airfix Vostok/R7 rocket a few years ago.

I've corrected the model by replacing the rather wobbly looking stretched sprue antenna with proper scale antenna material (from Accurate Armour).
