1960/70 Hornby/Triang toy trains
Discussion
Anybody know what track 1960 and 1970 Hornby/Triang trains will and won't run on? I know they are fine on the R400 series but have a vague childhood memory of them not being compatible with either some later Hornby or other make track due to bigger wheel flanges on this era of rolling stock.
My grandson is insisting we build a proper layout in the garage instead of just whizzing a few trucks round the dining room table... Oh well, if I must.

I used to help exhibit a large layout called 'Binns Road - Trains of the 60's' on which we ran Hornby Dublo (2 rail), Tri-Ang, Tri-ang Hornby, Wrenn, Trix, etc....
The only concession to period items was the track and control gear, as this ensured reliability. All of the track was Peco Code 100, and all but some old Tri-ang stock that had massive flanges (ooh Matron!) ran flawlessly.
I'll try and find some pics for reference.
