Hi guys
My rc cars have been in storage in South Africa for 3 years and now that my son has come of age I need to get them here in the UK

My folks are here in 2 weeks

The box my cars are in is not heavy say 5 kgs and about 40cm x25cm

I know sporting goods like golf clubs and surf boards are free , well I think they are

Could anyone advise me of a way to get them here with my folks

Maybe extra bag but that could end up been more than the value of the car

First thing would be to get them to remove any batteries, that will make them lighter and the airline will be more amenable.

Airlines don't seem to mind the batteries as long as they are in the cars

We recently went to Spain and took 2 full sets of RC race gear, cars with lipo batteries in, controllers, tyre warmers, chargers, transformer etc etc in hand luggage and the airline were fine

It was only coming back in Spain when they said they wanted each electrical item in a separate tray out of its box so they could xray them. They did not laugh when I asked them how many trays they had smile

Hey guys
Thanks for the reply's

Batteries I can easily replace here they are cheap enough

The issue is the nitro car and its remote , wheels and chargers. That is about 5 kgs and to loose that and waste valuable space in luggage is a waste

I was hoping it could be declared as sporting goods or the airline might be happy to transport it if it was securely packed in a box.. But not sure

I even considered anothe bag and paying for that but that's way to expensive

My folks are here for two months and to loose 5kgs is a bit much when you are only allowed 25
