Technic group buy - 42070, 42069 & 42068

Update: Group buy closes on Friday 28 July
Morning Technic fans!
What's this?
As per the Technic Lego thread, I am putting together a group buy for the forthcoming 42070 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck.
Images shamelessly stolen from the Internet!
How much will it be?
We're hoping to offer the usual discount of around 15-20% off the RRP, but at this stage the discount is not 100% confirmed. We're hoping to get as close to 20% off the RRP as we can - so expect ca. £180. The price will include next day delivery to the UK. Anyone outside of the UK will be able to place their order through the website and be subject to current international shipping rates.
What's in it for you?
Nothing. I'm getting 20% off the price, just like you guys. A friendly fellow happens to own a shop that sells Technic Lego and you are buying from him.
Do I have to commit now?
NO! At this point we're just looking for interested parties to come forward so we know how many to try and get! The only point you actually commit is when you buy from the website. That said, we would ask that you only register interest if you genuinely intend to purchase.
How do I buy?
Register interest and when the launch happens you will be sent a link to the website. We ask you not to post this all over the internet though, as if it gets out all the reserved stock will disappear within minutes.
When does it happen?
Launch date (and therefore delivery to your door) is expected to be the beginning of August.
Am I eligible?
Usual Group Buy terms apply. This is a group buy for PHers, and therefore you must have been a member for at least 6 months to qualify.
Other sets
We will try and sort out a similar discount with 42068 Airport Rescue Vehicle (RRP £80, expect ca. £65) and the 42069 Extreme Adventure (RRP £140, expect ca. £115).
OK, I'm in!
If you're interested, please drop us a line at technicgroupbuy@gmail.com
1) Your PH name
2) Your real name

4) Your location if outside UK mainland

The scale of the big one is decent, but I dont like the colours etc.
This is going to sound really stupid. .... but the 6x6 looks too much like a toy.I know Lego IS a toy, but over the past few years the Technic stuff has become more realistic in some way - hard to describe.
I think you've nailed it Russ ... it's the colour which lets it down.
Someone made their own version and in a different colour scheme it looks much better - sorry for the tiny picture:

I've just spotted the teddy bear on the bull bars of the 6x6.... WTF?
Mentioned in the Lego video at 0.58 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfXNmGAGusA
It is big chunky model .........
I am of the same opinion as others here, it simply feels like a fall from grace in terms of effort on Lego's part.
If I think why I got excited about the GT3 RS, it was the whole package from how it was presented, how it had the look and feel of a Porsche branded product through to the detail and build of the kit.
This years releases are more simply non branded vehicles rather than say a Merc Uni-Mog, Volvo Truck etc etc, in the standard Lego fashion.
Good effort to get another years Lego buy sorted, although I will pass this time.

Unfortunately I think I'm with the others, and I know I was the one that posed the question if there was going to be a group buy so I feel a bit guilty. They all just seem like toys this year rather than something an adult would put on a display shelf. I was hoping for something Unimogy, especially because when the Unimog was still available I was a bit rich but I was in the mood to spend some money on some construction equipment this year.
On the other hand it did lure me to look at your site and now I've got a 9 month old the wooden train sets are looking tempting, and maybe time to expand the hornby Thomas and Percy sets I bought 'him' when he was a month old.lol.
Thanks for the effort tho as always, let's just hope lego pull their fingers out and do something aimed at the more mature technic lovers soon.

Not for me thanks chaps. 6x6 is nice, but it is lacking the replica element for what is going to be a very expensive model. The other two just aren't doing anything for me.
I might have been tempted if the fire truck was the big one or you could do something in the Saturn V, but I think that is limited to Lego stores.

Also going to pass thanks. The models don't really appeal, but also you can pretty much guarantee that these will be in the shops in a few months time with big discounts. I took a right bath on 2 GT3s despite a good deal from Russ as group buys. Subsequently seeing them available at up to £100 off the original RRP rankles somewhat
