Hi,
Finished this recently, just showing it off because I am quite proud of it.
Phantom FGR.2 from the Hasegawa kit. Eduard etch and some resin from Aries. Mostly Tamiya & Hataka paints.
1/48 scale.
31 Squadron 1976.

Enjoy.

Excellent work. There's just something right about the design of the Phantom in my eyes.

Lovely thing isn't it. It was considered weird and ugly when if first appeared, and if you compare it with the jets that had gone before – and come to think of it what came afterwards – it is. Not elegant from any angle.

Awesome work, lovely looking model!

Such a cool subject, had a look round the phantom at tangmere last year, they let us climb up on the wing to have a better look, they are built like absolute tanks, even standing on the wingtip the whole thing just feels so solid.

I have an old VHS recording from the BBC of the 1983 St Athan Air Day. The commentator is (of course) the great Raymond Baxter who says of the Phantom "She really is a heavy old hammer".

New someone who used to fly Phantoms and land on British aircraft carriers probably around that time....
There are some amazing bits of film on youtube of british ones taking off and landing on the carriers... Very difficult to get them down....!!!!
Very nice finish, well done.
Gadgit.
