Vintage OO Hornby Trains - Most wont move!
Discussion
Hello
I have pulled down a box full of Hornby trains and carriages. I set about getting my hands on a starter kit with track and power so snapped up one of 2 kits this seller had on ebay:

I have found only 2 of my old trains run. The new track which arrived look clean and hardly used. Most of the trains which fail to move seem to sit on the track without issues but when power is applied, it sounds like its trying to move and might move a 1cm and judder a bit, but wont actually run
Are the trains easy to clean and fix, i am hoping they are just seized from not being used for the last 15-20 years.
Any hints or tips on what to do?
Thanks
Nick

Turn the train upside-down and apply the power to the wheels directly. When it isn't having to drag it's own weight along it is easier for the motor to spin up and once it's going it might work loose any dust/grime.
Also try some sandpaper on the wheels and track if they're dirty.
You could also try cleaning the brushes but that's a bit fiddly.
No doubt there is even more you can do but that's all I have
