Anyone got any hints and tips? It's only an old toy one we found when clearing my mum's house. It's 30 years old and the company (Mamod) is still going so I've found instructions online that I'm working my way through.

I'm only concerned the kids might blow themselves up if something's stuck!

Suggest you re-post this in the scale model forum on here?

The screw valve for the water inlet is also the safety pressure release. They're still available new as the part hasn't ever changed AFAIK, so I'd stick a new one in. Otherwise they're not that high a pressure boiler so should be OK.

If you intend restoring it to its former glory, this guy does replacement decals.
I've quite a few different sets for cars from him:

I love it how your links are all to things concerned with someone called "Roymatthewblack" (or similar) scratchchin

Seems like you've coincidentally built all the same large scale model cars as him too...You've even posted his Dinky Volvo restoration here (as featured on Britmodeller)...but you forgot to credit him that time wink

Best of all you think his models are "utterly mind boggling" hehe
