Had this kit in the stash since someone gave it to me part-built around 20 years ago. Decided that was long enough, so Santa brought some Friul tracks and Eduard PE for it.

Far from Tamiya's best effort, even for the late 70s, nothing like as detailed as more recent Tamiya AFVs, or the various T-62s from Trumpeter, but it went together well enough.

Paint will be brush only - going to try a technique that uses multiple costs of acrylic heavily thinned with water, but here it is built, save for some lengths of spare track. Apologies for iPhone pics:

Certainly looks good with all the PE on. I recently completed a couple of Tamiya kits of similar vintage and was surprised how good the detail was for that age (last one was the M60 with reactive armour) but I can see why they're cheap now.

I'm interested to see how that painting technique turns out though, I'm not a great fan of brush painting large things like tanks (which is why I tend to pay a small fortune in rattle cans!) so if thinned acrylics come up well I may try it myself. (Still got Academy's Warrior and two Trumpeter Challenger 2's in the stash to start)

First hitch appears to be a chronic shortage of serviceable brushes. I think I probably need some flat ones for the base colour. Second hitch is a lack of deionised water, so it'll likely be a day or two before I can make a start.
