Any folks into R/C buggy's? Looking to get one for my son, we have a two acre paddock so would need to work well off road.
I have a nitro buggy myself but it's a pain to get going gloplug etc, any recommendations for a kit???
Budget around 100, not mind getting one second hand if thats a better route..

Year or so ago I bought an Associated RC8e ;

many, many years ago I used to race RC cars, both on and off road.

How things have changed !

This thing is as tough as nails
I still haven't managed to break ANYTHING on it !

Running brushless & 4S LiPo it is pretty rapid - and lasts a long time.

Garden is pretty big, but still not big enough - needs plenty of space.
fully ball raced, diffs all over the place adjustable suspension / ride height etc
you can play with it forever !

Only drawback - the dog hates it - goes mental the second it moves.
I actually think that its the frequency of the controller / motor, as it can be out of her sight and she still goes mad !

I'd definitely recommend something similar
bought mine from local model shop DMS Racing

I've said it on here before, and will continue to do so FTX are a very poor brand.

If the styling suits, I would look at a Helion Volition short course truck.

I'm on my second, and think they are tough, cheap to repair, and great value, even when I had a sponsored drive in 1/8 truggy, I kept bashing my Helion.

If you have a paddock you will really do better with 4wd than 2wd. The one you linked looks ok, but for the price will really be a 'toy' rather than a proper hobby grade bit of kit - which is fine as long as you appreciate that.

Spare parts may be tricky too, so just check you can get wishbones, hubs and drive shafts easily as these are the most likely bits to break.

Thanks toy is OK, as it's for my 9 year old, if he really gets into it then we can look to buy a more expensive one...

Jadlam recommended me the FB Tamiya Neo Fighter. Factory built, was £180, bought mine for £110 in Black Fri sale.....bought bearing upgrade (£10) and spare batt pack (£15)

Yea you cant go far wrong with the Neo Fighter at that price...

To be honest your typical kid cant go far wrong with an FTX car either. Dont get me wrong the quality isn't all that compared to more expensive models - but a lot of these cars are used for a few weeks and then either upgraded to something "proper" or stuck in the cupboard for another 6months. They offer a good first step into proper RC... AND spares are actually readily available. i.e you can go on eBay and find multiple sellers selling all parts.

I have access to some really tasty RC stuff, but often just find myself bashing a Brushless FTX Carnage about the place. Plenty of poke and suspension arms are a fiver...

My personal favourite is ARRMA. Cars are extremely tough and generally look awesome too, paired with their pretty good brushless drivetrains you can have some serious fun. When I can be bothered I play with a NERO 6S (this is a great price by the way) - https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/arrma-nero-6s-e... and it just demolishes all terrain and happily pulls 60mph with the right pinion on road. We have a beach with dunes nearby and its awesome fun...

My 10 year old son has been playing with my old Tamiya TT01 Impreza and decided he wants something that can cope with rough ground and grass, so we've ordered a Neo Scorcher kit from Jadlam.

Looking forward to building it with him and taking it out smile
