My Dad used to make these – actually he preferred the 'Veron' brand which was made locally. He considered this to be proper modelling, and the Airfix/Matchbox/Revell stuff I made to be a bit lightweight, a possibly a sign of moral decay. He felt that about Meccano vs. Lego too. I think it was all the dope.
I've got a Typhoon and Tempest in the loft, for a rainy day.

Last one I remember building was this:

Price has certainly gone up! paid a lot less than that including a Mcgregor 2 channel propo system. Would fly it off Box Hill and Ditchling beacon in late 60s.

I built a few of their wooden aircraft kits. We would power them with electric motors, which took their feed from a pole with 2 ball races on them and a pair of conducting tether wires. A bit like control line models, but with electricity and scalextrix controllers.
We eventually uprated the system to enable 2 planes to fly at once. The planes were fitted with tissue paper streamers that allowed "combat".

I can remember building a PLASTIC aircraft kit by Keil-Kraft! It was a 1/72 scale Hurricane, the last one built (had the legend 'Last Of The Many!' next to the cockpit). I remember it as being a nice kit with a working retractable undercarriage. You occasionally see examples on eBay.

Indeed. My dad owned a couple of model shops in the 1960's, I remember he used to stock them.

I used to enjoy "flying" my Keil Kraft control line Hurricane with a glowplug motor...must have crashed about six of 'em to destruction......
