Sadly Jimmy passed away a few years ago.
I can try and get a message to the current mods if you shoot me a message on here.
Thanks for letting me know, CJS.I can try and get a message to the current mods if you shoot me a message on here.
Sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing - it looks like he has left a nice legacy there though.
I did actually receive the email, to my junk box, a day after signing up so I am on there now, under this user name.
Monitoring the cars for sale and club pages as I quite fancy getting into some racing (maybe 2wd off road)
Thanks CJS.
Having done some reading up; I hadn't actually come across Sworkz until you mentioned them.
It would be nice to find something like a B5M in good condition. There are a couple of Yokomo YZ2s for sale at the moment and a couple of the higher end Team Cs but not a lot of Associated.
I didn't think the Durango was so popular over here. I must say, the Yokomo does look good to me and I'm sure my driving will be the limiting factor for a long time, compared to car choice but I'd like something that has the capability of being relatively competitive (with practice).

What car you choose will also depend on what type of track you race on. There tends to be two versions of 1:10 buggies now, one for high grip and one for low grip surfaces.
Check out a club like Surrey & Hants RCCC to see what buggies we run. http://shrccc.co.uk/ or join us on the clubs facebook page.
Great bunch of guys that will offer good advice, or pop along to one of our meets to have a look and chat to the racers

What do you guys race on?
Quick update - Bought a new VBC Racing DM from Oople (I liked the design and at £100, couldn't say no) and finished it off and dropped some spare electrics in:
Needed a few bits to complete when it arrived but had great service from MB Models getting the spares and Modelsport for the wheels and tyres.
Will need upgraded electrics at some point but they don't seem too expensive for 'mid level' stuff (e.g. Speed Passion V3.0 motors and Reventon ESC).
I've also made contact with the Surrey & Hants guys on Oople so I am hoping to get down there soon for a practice!
Thanks for the help and advice, chaps!
the only thing outstanding is BRCA membership - The website doesn't seem to be allowing new members?!

Should be allowing membership for next year to include the remainder of this year.
