80s Tamiya Thunder Dragon
Discussion
Had one of these as a kid in the late 80s and loved it. It's been gathering dust at my parent's house ever since and I thought I'd get it up and running for my nephew. I recall the battery was rubbish, taking a few hours to charge and lasting around 20 minutes. I presume batteries have come a long way since then? Can you still buy batteries and if so could you point me a shop? Anything else to consider before firing it up again so to speak?

Most people now use LIPO batteries. But in a vintage runner like that, I would stick with NIMH.
You need a 7.2v stick pack, with a Tamiya plug, if the car is using it's original speed controller.
Something like this http://www.vapextech.co.uk/batteries/radio-control...
That should give you 25 minutes, buy 2 or 3, and a suitable charger, should be around £50 - 60, and you are good for hours of fun.
A modern charger, but at the cheaper end of the scale, should charge in around 30 minutes, I would go for an Imax B6AC.
