Christmas officially comes Friday!

I received a phone call from Gill @ Armortek that my 'little' kit will be despatched tomorrow. I know i shan't be building it till at least towards the end of next year but it makes so much sense to have a 1/6th scale Tiger in boxes around the house - at least that's what I have told my long suffering girlfriend...

Happy days

Would have better comic effect if he was facing the other way...

Awesome. My 6Y/O boy has the metal version of one of these hidden in our wardrobe awaiting delivery by Santa. I'm almost as excited as he is. I opened it to check all was well and for the money they're cracking looking things.

When I was researching what to get I was reading about Clark TK22 and Belini[sp?] sound cards. It's amazing how models have changed in recent years.

Thank you for the responses!

UPS man delivered this morning - he wasn't very happy how heavy each box weighed; 4 in total. My darling GF is helping me tick off the inventory. One or two packs not yet found but, given the amount of parts, it's no big shakes as i know Gill @ Armortek will square it away.

First impressions? Wow. Serious bit of kit. In no way can it be rushed. I have a lot of new skills to learn working with metal and ensuring something cuts the mustard the other end of the build.

As its their special edition Tiger 131 kit, I will build it as such. I doubt I will go to 'super detailing' though, preference is the Tiger to naturally patina through use - basis being, it's made of metal in the first place so will naturally weather.

I've come to realise my desire for this kit has been fuelled by my sub-conciousnes remembering my childhood where I collected all the military tanks, etc. It is an extravagance and feel privileged to have one. I'm looking forward to the day my GPW is towing the tank on a trailer behind it!

I will probably end up doing a build thread for the tank but priority at the moment is sorting out my new home i have bought which is quietly falling down smile

Finally, breaks my heart to see the Tiger out in the open in the pictures above. They only build 1300 of these and, taking into account losses, survivors must be in single figures, runners and non runner alike. Am not sure I have room for a 1:1 scale though smile

Rhino, which make did you buy in the end and from whom? Be useful to hear how the purchase went?

Tankzone. More expensive than Nitrotek but their reviews online and the fact they never responded to my e-mail put me off. Paid £249 for the taigen/torro metal version with metal tracks (not essential) and metal chassis, gearbox, and suspension which I think is given it will be driven be a mechanically non-sympathetic 6/yo. Ordered and arrived too days later. Thumbs up service from me!

Minor update:

My luck,y lucky GF and I catalogued all the parts to discover that only 4 specific washers were amiss. Really quite an amazing effort by Armortek given the ridiculous amount of parts the kit comes with. Well done to them for posting within 24 hours of notification.

I can't wait to see this build come together. I built a Tamiya Tiger II a few years ago now (I finished a re-build last year, I really should post some pics on the scale models/RC models thread) and that was great fun to put together.

This beast is on a whole new level. What is it powered by?

I was at Bovington tank museum the other day looking at 131... I love the place and when i'm down that neck of the woods always visit... To my surprise there was a group of guys in the main hall rocking 1/6 R/C Panthers, Tigers, Cromwells, Churchills and an Sd. kFz 225 dragging a Flak 88... All metal tracked, sound cards, the full schebang! Alas, all i could afford was a 1/43 Tamiya Panther Ausf G - Mind you i still enjoyed the build!

Hope you are making good progress, here is my Panzer 4 Ausf H I bought secondhand fully built. It has smoke that is fan assisted so blows out more when accelerating and I've just bought some smoke fluid that smells of diesel/aviation fuel which is really good, recoil which is a no brainer given this level of realism along with a sound so loud and worthy of it's presence.
As the photos show I've been busy on e-bay accessorising my tank.
Many years ago I hired a digger to 'sculpt' a telly tubby type landscape (as I live on a hill) for my daughter and it has paid dividends now for tank and quarter scale motocrosser
