Quick heads-up for anyone interested in modelling: Scale Model World at Telford is next weekend (7th & 8th November):

http://www.smwshow.com/

It's a huge show with loads of traders, club display stands and a world-class competition. Well worth a trip.

I'm currently well into the seemingly essential "pre-model show" preparation of neglecting personal hygene, avoiding contact with the opposite sex and eyeing up a selection of old t-shirts which are totally inappropriate for someone of my age.

Bring it on...

I'll be there on Saturday and will likely be not far from L'Arsenal, Naval Models and Tom's Modelworks.

Have you got a display stand?

I noticed from the article you linked me to, that White Ensign did some Aotake paint (ACJ15) ?

I'm not trading this year (left it too late (and *hated* the pack and unpacking for Perth show in April banghead)) but both Naval Models and L'Arsenal should have them available as of Saturday morning.

We have got Aotake and I'm happy to put some my my pocket for you, but I've had a fair bit of chat back and forth with Nick Millman who runs that page I linked you to and the Japanese range has had some attention recently. Our Aotake is a pretty colour but Nick says it's too light in colour, particularly for a coating used in shaded areas like wheel wells. Being a metallic paint too it doesn't quite have the look of a transluscent tint over metal so Nick's going to get me samples of what it's supposed to look like and I think we'll re-produce it as a tinted clearcoat rather than a metallic. You're still welcome to a sample if you want though...

Currently it looks like this:

I see - it does look a bit light. I'll probably end up mixing Tamiya clear paints and overspraying Vallejo aluminium, but thanks very much for the offer - I'll ask if you're around in that area if I go on Saturday.

When I built my Airfix Zero I used Tamiya Clear Blue over Tamiya Aluminium.

biggrin

I'll be there on the Airfix stand as usual. No talk/lecture from us this year though.

Eric- let your guys know that the young lady who usually mans the make+paint won't be with us this year, they might need a few days to get over the disappointment wink

Good to chat to you and the usual suspects (plus one) Perdu. It was a great show, really enjoyed it. Even managed to get both kits that were on my list this year:

There were genuine bargains to be had - Tamiya Zeros at under £10 at one second hand kit stall. I paid just under £20 for mine last year dammit.
