I set up my V8 Bathurst set earlier on, and dug out 4 of the cars I had when I was younger. All 4 are 70s/80s models.

My dad bought me the Rallycross set for my 3rd birthday, and an Escort Mexico soom after. Here is the catalogue they are in:

and the page on the set itself:

Unfortunately it and the two Minis are in my parent's loft..I do however have the following:

Escort Mexico, still works (needs rewired though), not mint but sort of in a box smile:
Catalogue page

the car itself

how much? yikes

Rover Police car - kind of works: has got traction issues and the drive cog on the motor keeps disengaging from the rear axle

Bentley and Alfa: Bentley is fine, Alfa has a broken rear wheel, so only one wheel drive!

Anyone else got older stuff?

I used to own sheds of 60s and 70s scalextric cars, sold them all in a rash moment having a clearout in my mid 20s,,, really regret it now.I even sold my dads original 60s Aston martin and Ferrari set... really some of the best looking cars they ever made.

Those 60's cars are fantastic, something I have never seen before.

That Mini cross set takes me back and was the one I asked for in the mid 70's due to my life long passion for anything classic mini. Over the next few years every spare piece of pocket money went on additional bits of track, cars to the point where the track layout out grew my parents modest bungalow.
When I reached my mid 20's I gave the set away to a friends son who continued to add to the set and later offered it back to me. I naturally jumped at the opportunity and was amazed when it came back with a scale Leyland articulated lorry which is fun but no tarmac burner smile. Despite a few outing when my kids were younger the set has sadly stayed in my loft for most of the time since as it never captured their imagination like it did me. Maybe time to get it out and perhaps move it on to someone who will get some use from it.

still have my scalextric 300 set with 2 mini clubmans I got as a nipper, a lot of the track got trashed but thanks to freecycle I got a load of 70's track and controllers I was able to get it all complete again. also got a grand prix 8 set from the early 70's with 2 brm's and a simple oval with banked corners I got at a car boot sale for £7.50 (guy wanted a tenner, me being a cheeck bugger offered a fiver and we settled in the middle) from the 90's I have a super tourers set with a mondeo and bmw 3 series, finally a basic sport set with 2 audi tt's just to bring the collection through the decades. thniking about a micro scalextric to complete the selection

My kids just got the 'Raw Power' set for Christmas.

I dug out the lap counter & another 1/2 straight to add to their set, seems the new stuff is different to the 80's/90's stuff & is not compatible? frown

Only 2 of the cars work, the rest are going on eBay as spares/repair, as will the load of track I've got I guess.
Got Mk3 Escorts, old F1 cars, spiderman TR7's! amongst others.

the new track is called sport and has different connections, you can get translator pieces to join old "classic track" to sport and as for the old cars, the motors are reliable, put on new braids and wires and a set of rear tyres and you will be fine

When I got a Scalextric set for my kids, I also got mine out of the loft after 25 years of inactivity. All they needed was some new tyres, new braids and a few needed the white pinion as they split. Well worth it for a couple of quid to see how slow they are compared to the new cars ;-)

I have an old 'set 80' which was the 4 lane set. Also have a 'you steer' conversion that they used to sell. Has a ford gt and a Ferrari in.

Must dig them out of the attic one day.

I was given that Rallycross set with the banked bend one Christmas as a young lad in the 70's, bloody loved it!

The 1980's Scalextric Quattro also had 4WD (of course) by using an elastic band rolleyes

That Merc is cool.

I'd forgotten all about this thread!

Subsequent visits from my parents have netted the following:

Both original Minis: pretty good condition apart from the smashed windscreen on the red one

A brown Mk1 Escort: no lights, no motor

A hand painted XR3i : missing grille / headlights, glass, one rear light.

And a Lancia 037: seems to be all there.

I also found this website (warning - contains links to ebay listings, may cause unexpected spending).

This was an old worn out police car. Roof light and sound circuit board was missing from years ago. I made the ali wheels, filled in the roof hole and thought it looked quite good with the black windows smile
