BMW 1:18 ArtCar Models
Discussion
No such thing as a cheap ArtCar model i am afraid, they are all pretty expensive. The cheapest of the lot is probably the E34 535i by Matzo Kayama.

I noticed they all seem to be very expensive!
My gf bought me the Lichtenstein 320i for Christmas.
So the debate was where to go next. Setting aside £150 for each model (as a minimum) you are looking at at least 2k to complete the set. Truth be told some are a lot better than othrs.
The ones I'm really after include:
Frank Stella's CSL
Calder's CSL
Warhol's M1
Koon's E92 M3
Other ones I'm a fan of include:
Sandro Chia's M3 racer
Ken Done's M3

I was at an autojumble last year and the BMW club of France was selling what was left of their stock, unfortunately out of politeness I let my boss who I was with choose first. A Calder CSL for 40 euros.... Out of the choice that was left the 850 doesn't do it for me. In hindsight I would have bought everything as the values have shot up.

I noticed those online from China. I must admit, I would be suspicious. This seller has loads of the Art Cars advertised - but is selling from China.

Stunning model, it is more of an ornament than a model car.
I suppose I consider it my own little bit of art to display. Certainly keen on getting a few more - Stella's CSL, Warhol's M1 are the ones I really want.LaurasOtherHalf said:
I went to this when it was on. Really great exhibition actually. Took lots of photos but not got round to uploading them.Photos don't really do the cars justice tbh, you really need to see them in the metal. The Lichtenstein 320i and Stella CSL are ruddy awesome. I was also really impressed by the new M3 by Jeff Koons.

Finally some pics to share:
And on display with some 1:87 models - 320 Jagermeister, CSL Gosser Beer, M1 Procar, Priaux's 320i WTCC and a Z4 M Coupe touring car.
Where did you get those 1:87s?! They look amazing. And on display with some 1:87 models - 320 Jagermeister, CSL Gosser Beer, M1 Procar, Priaux's 320i WTCC and a Z4 M Coupe touring car.

I have a few models in that scale. Brilliant for those of us with little space...

Thanks! I have a few models in that scale. Brilliant for those of us with little space...
They were from the Miniature World in Hamburg. They were very cheap iirc, only about 6-8 euros iirc. Really pleased with them. Normally I like 1:18 models but these were too cheap not to buy.
My most recent auction success on ebay:
Last week I won this:
It's currently sitting on my shelf (will get some photos when better light) but have to say the level of detail is stunning. Really really nice models. I'm not one of those 'keep them in the box' type collectors. No point unless you are going to get them out and actually enjoy them.
Have to admit, they're getting a bit 'moreish'. The only problem is that these models are quite a bit more expensive than Pringles (which I genuinely believe, once are popped, it's difficult to stop).
