This may seem like a strange request so bear with me.

I'm building a 1:12 Tamiya Mini at the moment but I'm struggling to find a set of wheels and tyres for it, I'm after some 13" deep dished Minilites or similar.
Something like this:

Does anyone know where I could find a set, or even a smaller scale die-cast model that has similar wheels in a size that equates to 13" in 1:12?

Any help appreciated.

all i can think of is look around at radio controled cars , either argos specials or go to a tamiya store where they sell them seperate

not sure if they have 1/12 but might be something near enough

while im here ..im after tyres fora 1/15 if anyone knows a universal tyre seller lol?

Thanks guys, I had a look at Mardave's site but couldn't find anything suitable.
I have found this site though, it's in German but they make wheel sets for 1:18 diecasts. I know there are a few of you out there who modify cars in that scale so you may be interested, they are bloody expensive though!

Modellbau-Nowak.de

I've worked out that 13" in 1:12 is roughly 19" in 1:18, so that's the size I'm going for, I'll just have to make a compromise on the Minilite style.

if you really want them i can make some in 3D and you could get the printed in 3D and paint them up, with or without tyres.

I need to make some more wheels to add to my stock parts anyway.

That would be fantastic if you could mate. Would you need any measurements or anything beforehand?

At the minute i just need the ratio.
If you want me to do accurate ones that would be easiest as measurements for minilites are readily available online and they can be scaled afterwards. Might be easier if i make the tires too and send them over as one part to be painted.

what type of tread you want?

here are some others i have done.

I haven't had any printed, but i have had some milled in 1/6 scale before. It's usually an .STL file, but i can export it to suit. Just let me know.

do you want them like these?

ie: 7x13 with a 175/50 R13 tyre?

all i need to know is what width you want from the outer edge of the tyre, to the glueing flat point on the models hub so i know where to place the centre of the wheel before i do the spokes, although that can be move around afterwards.

That's exactly what I'm after chap. I'm not sure on the offset though, I'd probably have to look at the model to figure that out, but I do want to go as deep as possible (fnarr fnarr) and extend the arches to match.

For the tyre tread I was thinking a simple track tyre like Toyo R888s or Yoko A048s would look quite good.

Thanks for taking the time for this mate, much appreciated thumbup

Tyre pretty much done. Its not a million miles away from 888's. If i did exact replicas the tire would have about 2 or 3 times as many surfaces, but they are close enough to be a realistic track tyre imo.

That looks fantastic, top work Slomax!

To give you an idea of what they'll be used for, think this:

Ending up looking something like this, but with better wheels wink :

Yes, that is what you think it is under the bonnet

Nice!

Can't wait to see the finished article! If you don't mind taking a few pics once you have had them printed and then again on the finished model that would be great!

No worries guys, as soon as I have them back from the printer I'll post some pics and some feedback up here. The model may take a while longer though hehe
