First go at weathering on this Cromwell mk IV tank. Painted in Tanya acrylic, then varnished with Mr Color GX. I tried using AK black enamel pin wash but it’s really hard to use and seems to be not thin enough. Turned out ok though after I nicked some Citadel brown wash from my son’s warhammer kit.
Very nice work. I’m putting finishing touches to the coupe version at the moment.Airfix are re-releasing their Hampden as a vintage classic later this year so its probably a very old kit. I have the Valom Hampden which is ok as a limited run model but I struggled to get the front clear part to fit neatly onto the fuselage.
I have had the Battle on back order from Hanants for nearly 2 years now so it will be interesting to see what it is like when it eventually appears.

Men’s personal grooming in the 1940’s wasn’t what it is now. barchetta_boy said:
Had a lot of fun with my “Farm earth” pigment and added some serious mud to the Cromwell. Turned out nicely. Decided to hell with historical accuracy and gave the commander a maroon beret to contrast with the green of the hull (should be black but maroon looks so much nicer)
You could always get a couple of paratrooper figures and give one of them a black beret to put next to the tank.

I’ve been waiting for a new tooling of the Hampden & Battle.
It will happen. (There is a 1/72 Battle on the way from AZUR-FRROM if the rumour mill is to be believed).
I didn't realise the Battle was Bomber Command too. It will happen. (There is a 1/72 Battle on the way from AZUR-FRROM if the rumour mill is to be believed).
I love your display Sticklegs I think models have more meaning when put into a context like that, well done.
Confession. When I was 13/14 I attempted to build 'all the bombers flown by the RAF in WW2' in that optimistic way you have at that age. Looking back I did surprisingly well (this was the late 1970s)
Nearly all Airfix in those days of course. Lanc / Halifax / Stirling / Wellington / Hampden / Blenheim / Boston / Mosquito
Then over to Frog for the more obscure types Whitley / Maryland (bought but did not build) / Baltimore (could not find in shops or at airshows) Mitchell (correct mark for Desert Air Force – really liked this one and only recently binned it). Frog also did a Ventura which I didn't want because they're ugly and rubbish. I should have done a Marauder too but I discovered prog, punk and ska, and it was all cast aside
I haven't touched a model in about 10 years, in fact came close to chucking all my stuff out several times but only didn't as I thought one day I'd use it. After moving to a bigger house I finally did decide to start again with a Tamiya 1/24 Impreza
Don't think that's too bad, although the body colour has come out rather flat, so not quite sure where I went wrong there?
