1/24 Airfix ‘Car Door’ Typhoon Mk.Ib.
Out of the box build.
If you have never built one of the latest runs of big Airfix kits they are brilliant.
I deliberately didn’t follow the instructions as I couldn’t decide to have it buttoned up or cut away so did each side differently which required a lot of thinking.
I also cut away more panels than Airfix allow for.
Just some preliminary pics as I added the last touches tonight.

A new addition to my cabinet recently, as an irresistable and very shiny bargain at a recent Aerojumble. I wasnt looking for a Blue Angels Phantom, but now I have one to go in Phormation with the Bunny on my "fast and loud" shelf

Yeah great job - way beyond my abilities so much respect. Sir, I doff my hat!
Thank you, I restarted modelling about 15 years ago and have learned new skills every time. The Typhoon isn’t particularly hard, but it requires perseverance & treating each element as a scale model in itself.
The hardest kits which require the most talent are some of the ‘entry level’ kits.
As with anything you get what you pay for!
As a break from scratch building bits for large scale motorbikes and to get the modelling mojo going again I picked up a Tamiya tank, their lovely 38-T. One weekend of building, a weekend of painting and most of the weathering this weekend. I also built a bridge for it to sit on, cheap laser cut thing from Amazon that barely looks strong enough to support a farm cart, let alone a tank.

1996 Honda Accord Wagon by Aoshima, grafted onto the floorpan, engine and suspension of a Tamiya Honda NSX to create a grown-up version of the Renault 5 Turbo / Clio V6:

Various accessory components plus raiding of the parts box took place.
Now to get back to one or two of the longer-term WIPs before being tempted to start something new....

The ultimate sleeper!
Great job on the Panzer 38, brilliant effort! I have just finished my first allied tank - started it a year ago and sidetracked a bit by a few other projects but this really was great fun to build. I just can’t imagine it gets any better than tamiya for a novice like myself. This went together like a dream and looks brilliant. I know this won’t be too everyone’s tastes but as a beginner I am mega chuffed with this, I deliberately went for just a bit of dust rather than full weathering for that Normandy vibe. I also tried my first go at a camo net, came out passable just about but definitely learnt a lot for next time. ![](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/Jo28W4Q2.jpg[/img] [img]https://thumbsnap.com/sc/e9eMGN58.jpg)
Edit: when I mean it looks brilliant I mean the kit itself, not my finished efforts!
