The Tamiya RC car thread
Discussion
Whilst I mull over whether or not to build the Egress or the Buggy Champ, Tamico had the Wild One Blockhead on offer last week so I decided to buy it with the intention to build and run it. I needed to get the value of the order up to 165 euros so also went for the Tamiya BZ Super Stock motor for the Egress.

I appreciate this is the Tamiya thread but I’ve long hankered after a Team Associated RC10; back in the day I bought a second hand RC10 and it was a massive jump from what I had owned/run before. They re-released them quite a few years ago but those kits fetch ridiculous money on eBay.
More recently they released an RC10 “clear edition”, which bizarrely was really for display only, and then yesterday they announced pre-orders for the proper RC10. It’s not cheap (£320) but for me it will be worth it to relive my childhood. I have friends in Florida so I’ve used their address as it’s US and Canada only for delivery.

Latest acquisition from Tamico arrived today; I ordered it when it was on offer (great deal even with the duty) but it got caught up in customs and I’ve been a way for a few weeks so scheduled delivery for today. Can’t wait to build it; the BZ motor is for my Egress. I was also delighted to get notification that my Team Associated RC10 had shipped…to our friends house in Florida so it’s going to have to wait till September before I get my hands on it. The only other buggy I really want is the Kyosho Turbo Optima, but that is going to have to wait.

Having wanted a Monster Beetle since about 1989, this Christmas is finally the time...
Got a 2015 Rere kit, and honestly, wasn't sure if I wanted to just build it, or build and use it. However, I found a decent deal on a radio, so I've gone all in. Stock motor is fine for now, mainly to protect the diff and I've bought a Kamtec lexan shell to use as a basher, then some secret squirrel plans for a shelf queen shell that I'll need to take my time over.
Properly excited.
Fantastic! I always associate Christmas with Tamiya kits having got a Falcon back in 1986, and when I worked in a RC model shop; in the run up to Christmas I used to build customers cars as a sideline and the Monster Beetle was really popular.Got a 2015 Rere kit, and honestly, wasn't sure if I wanted to just build it, or build and use it. I’ve got an Egress that I plan on building over Christmas this year. It was always my holy grail and so I can’t wait to build it!

Nice! I think MCI are the go to for decals from what I understand. I ordered decals for a Kyosho Optima Mid and had them sent to friends in Florida and was meant to pick them up when I visited (they had put a hold on their mail deliveries when we swapped houses so I didn’t get so I can’t comment on quality). When I spoke to the company about the delivery they did say they posted to the uk.https://mciracing.ca/products/1-10th-tam-47508-por...

Pre-decorated body: half the fun already gone.
I can't be the only person who'd very gladly let you have that bit of fun for my builds! Edited by Sporky on Friday 7th February 10:15
