XC90 2007 MY - what changed?
Discussion
Hi Matt, Not sure of all of the detail spec changes, but the main external revision is to the rear lights (out with the <2006 round indicators and reversing lights in favour of more angular ones), the badging also changed on the tailgate to bigger wider spaced lettering and the bumpers were updated. The diesel engines were updated between 05/06 from 163bhp to 185bhp (light grey engine cover) badged as D5. The later engine was also offered in a de-tuned state to 163bhp and badged as 2.4D but is a different engine to the old 163bhp unit.
Have a look on Parkers guide or similar for a detailed comparison.

Thanks Rich - were looking at an 08 D5 at our local dealer that appeared keenly priced with only 31k on it - however on closer inspection it appears to have had a rough life with a few body scratches, damage to the rear silver bumper part and scratches all over the silver interior panels.
This got me looking at slightly older cars to see if there was anything better - will keep a look out for the 185 engine and go from there.

From about June 2006 onwards the XC90 was facelifted - the main differences were:This got me looking at slightly older cars to see if there was anything better - will keep a look out for the 185 engine and go from there.
> Updated tail lights
> More body colour on rear bumper
> Chrome trim above rear number plate
> VOLVO badge spaced out on tailgate to V O L V O
> Body coloured wing mirrors with in built indicators
Other than that, they were pretty much unchanged.
Prior to 2006 the D5 had a 163 BHP engine but from 2006 onwards, the D5 was updated to 185BHP and had a grey plastic engine cover (this model is known as Euro 4)
Hope this helps
decided against the 08 plate car as it had too much damage for a 30,000 mile car for me.
However, and what prompted me to ask in the 1st place - the car had the new tail lights and the chrome strip over the rear number plate, but the letters were closely spaced. Didn't get chance to have a good look, but concerned it had either had a rear end smack or some other damage across the back.
Interesting the main dealer dropped the price within 2 weeks from 24950 to 22950 then it disappeared from the forecourt so perhaps it went back to auction. Amazes me that they put it on the forecourt with so much visable damage
