over the last couple of months I've had this warning flash up, It usually disappears straight away, only once did it stay till I turned the engine off and then it did not come back, it happens when I have to accelerate quickly to overtake. The car seems to be running fine, what could the warning indicate.

When has the fuel filter last been changed ?I agree with the advice to get the codes read - could be any of a myriad of things and you'll be stabbing in the dark until you know what prompted the ECU to display this message.
For the record I've had this twice - once it was the Swirl Chamber OPerating Arm failure and the second time it was a split in the Intercooler -> Turbo air hose - both common, well documented and simply resolved faults.

I've had this twice, the first time the dealer just cleared the message and waffled.
The second time I had cause to speak with the lease company maintenance dept as I was wanting the car serviced early due to going on holiday overseas and would put a lot of miles on which would take it way beyond scheduled date. The deal with our lease company is that you have to book all work incl warranty through them and they make an e-booking automatically with the workshop, so you end up discussing all issues with them.
In relation to the service light the maintenance guy suggested that they knew this sometimes happened if the incorrect oil had been used on the service and the vehicle definitely needed the proper fully synth oil. "I'll have a word in their ears." he said.
On pick up the service bod made a big point that only fully synth should be used, but seeing as the vehicle had only been serviced by them since new and I'd never had to add oil since day one not sure what he was admitting, if anything.

That's a load of cack he's spouting about the oil - I've run t5's on semi synth and they have been absolutely fine - it's fair to say the quality of the oil and the sae grade do though. Makes me laugh that Volvo bum off castrol oil - i think it's rubbish - im not bad mouthing fully synth but it is expensive and makes little difference. Try a 5-30sae from a quality brand like shell or mobil semi or fully it doesn't matterThe second time I had cause to speak with the lease company maintenance dept as I was wanting the car serviced early due to going on holiday overseas and would put a lot of miles on which would take it way beyond scheduled date. Totally agree , my T5 has now got 175.000 otc and runs fine . Only ever seen semi synth .My old faithfull T5 is being traded this week for a D5 , 2002 on a 52 plate and she only fetches £700 , but owes me nothing, bless her.

Totally agreeAn oil and filter change and it's been 100% spot on since.
It's a bit quite in this part of Ph isn't it?
Assuming this isn't fixed, is it a D5 of a T5???
If a D5 mine did this on kickdown and then cleared itself after going into limp mode for a 30seconds or so.
It was the turbo inlet pipe that had gone soft and squidgy over time. Full boost must have been causing it to collapse and starve the turbo of air.
Easy DIY fix.

Don't be so quick to dismiss as at the same time DPF regen issues started even though the vehicle is hardly ever used on short urban runs and DPF regen shouldn't be a problem. Wrong oil can give DPF issues apparently which surprised me when it was explained.

I totally agree although the grading is more detrimental to the correct running of the car rather than whether it's semi or fully synth - I'm not saying fully is bad but it wouldnt cause problems running on a quality semi synth. An oil and filter change and it's been 100% spot on since.
