I'm not sure whether the incident is related, but I hit a pothole today and it seemed fairly hard. Checked the driverside wheels and tyres, doesn't seem to be any distortion or puncture etc.

A couple of miles down the road I notice a little vibration from the wheel, intermittent whistle/squeaking noise. Under braking, the peddle doesn't feel spongy and the car doesn't pull to one side.

I had a look when I got home and the front and rear driver side wheels were very hot (didn't touch the disks!). Am I correct in assuming that the brakes are binding? Would the pothole have had any relation to this?

Likewise, potential method to correct this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit: If it is of any relevance, last time the car was serviced they mentioned that the flexible brake hoses were perished but they didn't need replacing yet. Could this have any impact?

I had a similar problem with my S70 18 months ago... Took the wheel and prized the caliper off. Bit of wet and dry around the moving parts, lubricated them, cleaned it all up... Problem solved...

They normally clean up pretty well provided they've not been like it for yonks - testament to the quality of volvo parts.
Seizing rear calipers is a common Volvo trouble spot especially on 850/V-S70 and C70.

Bear in mind if the discs have been truly cooked then they should be replaced - they'll have a blue-ish hue to them if the have.
