Hi I've had two, a 1.8 which I sold with 212,000 on it, and now a 2001 T4, which has 130,000 now. As you see they are capable of big mileages. Timing belt must be changed every 70,000, major damage if it breaks. suspension bushes wear leading to clonks, top strut mounts too. I haven't done anything other than brakes , discs, pads, oil changes, up until now, the T4 is getting a head gasket, but that's unusual.
No major rust issues, so should be quite clean looking.Look out for the seat belt cutting into the pillar, they all do that to some degree, and I have heard of the odd one failing it's MOT due to it. If the car has xenon lighting be aware that if this fails you could be looking around £70 for the bulb, £250 for a complete headlight and £250 for the powersupply.

I went to see a 2003 V40 diesel today that had an intermittent loud rattling noise on idle, which decreased when the clutch was pressed.
It drove fine, but a quick google when I got home suggested that dual mass flywheel problems aren't uncommon on these. £450 for the parts (including clutch)or £700 if you want it done for you.
