I suffered a crushing blow recently (literally)! A delivery van came out of nowhere in front of me, with no chance of stopping. I was probably doing about 55-60 by the time I leapt on the brakes. All credit to Volvo safety features, as the air bags and seatbelt did their jobs perfectly. The "crumple zone" did just that and crumpled, saving me from the indignity of having to be cut out!

My insurers have so far been extremely competent and caring engaging a reputable assessor to estimate for repairs. . However, not unsurprisingly, the assessors have deemed it uneconomical to repair and have provided a pre-accident value.

I believe the offered value is a bit low for the pre-accident condition of my vehicle, so would value the opinion of the PH community. The vehicle details are as follows:

Volvo S60 D5 (185 PS) SE Lux – Sept 2007 ('57 plate) – 75,000 miles

Extras include, 17" Alloy wheels, Auto dimming rear view mirror, Body Coloured Bumpers & Mirrors , Cruise Control, Electric Driver's Seat, Electric Heated Door Mirrors, Front Fog Lights, Headlamp cleaning systems, Heated Front Seats, Information Centre, Outside Temperature Gauge, Steering Wheel Remote Control , Passenger Airbag cut off switch, Premium Sound Audio System, Rain Sensor. The paintwork was in excellent condition and all brakes and tyres were almost new.

I sold one in the run up to Xmas. It was a very clean car, it had done 81k , drove well , had a service history. it was a 57 can't remember the month, but had a host of extras. It went for 11900 . Bought a low mileage S40 Diesel.

~£9/10k I reckon.

Must have been a nasty experience, hope this is the worst thing you have to worry about at the moment.
