Why I love my 1999 S40
Discussion
I have just replaced the second item to ever fail on my 1999 S40 1.8 se.
The last thing to go at 33k miles was the reversing light switch.
Now the oil pressure switch has failed at 78k. Less than £10 from Euro car parts and easy to change with the car on the ground.
I have serviced this car myself at home since 2003 when I bought it off it's frist owner with 22k on the clock for £4000.
It never even uses and oil or coolant and I regularly sit at high speed on the M'way. I have never replaced anything else that was not on the service schedule in the Haynes manual.
I blame changing the oil at 5k miles! :-)

Pah! My '99 V40 is on 220k - mind you, two of the heated rear-window elements don't work...The last thing to go at 33k miles was the reversing light switch.
