I have never managed to get successful connection with an Iphone and a Volvo bluetooth system, ever.

Thought we had done it once in my V50, in fact both sides of the equation showed that they had paired, but it never worked properly as in being able to make a call.

On the latest vehicles which list compatible phones the iPhone is not included.

This isn't being much help is it? Sorry! frown

No its fine - least not only person with a problem!

V70 bluetooth works brilliant, call quality isnt great but thats more the phone than the car.

Basically last night I updated the I Phone Software and the screen now says USB not readable.

Obviously this might end up in tennis between Apple and Volvo - but the tech this morning said he had a few in with the same problem and rebooting the I Phone did the trick. Going to try that when I get the car back, otherwise just going to buy a cheap MP3 player instead.

Mine works fine?

iPones and other smart phones like to be 'the boss' so get the phone to find the car rather than the traditional way...... should work.

So the consensus is that the Volvo bluetooth works ok with the iphone normally?

I'm about to change/upgrade my phone and was looking at the iphone, but need it to work in the car.

If the problem is the same is as mine you are ok with bluetooth on iphone with the latest apple software update but the usb / ipod part of the iphone is now seen as 'unreadable' by the car where it was previously ok?

Well that's what's happening to me, anybody know the fix for this? Would like to be able to access my music on the iphone as before. Annoying!

Hello,
I'm from Belgium (sorry for my bad english).
I have a Volvo V50. Until yesterday, I could connect my Iphone 3G by cable in the car. It was possible to find the playlists, to navigate into them, and to listen to the music.
Yesterday, I upgraded my Iphone to 4.2.1. Now I can't connect the Iphone anymore. The message is "USB UNREADABLE".

I see that I'm not the only one ;-). If someone find the solution, I'm interested :-).

Afternoon guys,

I work at a Volvo dealer and have some info (not a fix unfortunately) reference the Iphone issue.

All Volvo Bluetooth is compatible with Iphone 3G & 3G S. Unfortunately the latest software (4.2.1) for some reason ruins this compatibility. The phone connection will still work but you will find that it sometimes 'drops' in and out connection.

Also the latest version of the Iphone/Itunes software isn't compatible through the USB port. If the old software is put back in to the phone it WILL work again!

We have contacted Volvo UK reference this and as soon as we have a fix I will let you all the TJ info and you can go in to your local dealer and get it downloaded to the car and all will be good! I just don't know how long this will take!

Thanks for the update - it's much appreciated!

I don't know how to roll back the I Phone Software unfortunately.

I have also noticed its not connecting automatically now as well so obviously part of the problem!
