gearbox/ final drive anoraks -- help needed 850t5r
Discussion
really happy with our 7 seater t5r
But it drinks more than our cerbera - and last week while cruising in france at 100+ i could not help but notice the LOUD high revs - over 4000 ....
The m56 is a good gearbox if with a very sloppy change. I see that the M66 ( six speed will fit) . But cannot find data about the relevant final drives. My fith gear is 0.70 - and so is the 6th gear on the M66. But as far as can establish the longest final ratio is 3.77 ? or am i wrong?
I'm thinking of a final drive of 3.21 would bring my cruise at 100+ into the 3000 revs.
saving petrol and engine. We only use the car for long drives and motorway to denmark through germany and so .....
anybody out there who has done some work here ????
regards chris

with this 15 yrs + i get classic policy £189 ..........and the original sort or "brick square" pig ugly looks.
which m66 would be the longest gearing - diesel - ? any using a m66?

sorry my mind went elsewhere
i'm getting 16-18 mpg on a fast run - no more than 20 mpg on motorway - and less when 100 +
just met a dutch fella with an 1999 t5r, he said about 12liters per 100 k'
That's like another tally all together. My engine must not be running rigth.
Hamish at Broomgrove Hls tuning just set it up - and gave it the all clear 1500 miles ago..
still looking at that m66 with a gripper diff ( long long ratio )
