Looking forward to getting it once its been fettled. Bought off a small local family run garage I know. Getting a new lambda sensor, new rear disks and new front wishbones. One previous owner, full history, cam belt etc. 98,000 miles. One year tax and MOT. £3900. Bodywork immaculate and silver. Everything works.
I'm going to get a towbar fitted, and it will be a great caravan tug.

Just traded my V70 mine in against a S40. I'll miss the big car. Get the garage to change the drop links on the front whilst there doing the other work. V70's are fairly hard on them.
Cheers for that. The last three cars I've owned were all hard on drop links. I reckon it's all these bloody speed bumps.Hi,
Always nice to welcome another Volvo barge owner to the forum. I've got a 2001 like you. Bought it almost 2 years ago and now has 98k on the clock.
Let me know if you need any tips or suggestions. The odd things do go (like auto dimming mirrors) which can be fixed for peanuts if you know a few little tricks.

I'm going back to Volvo after a few dry years. I've had a 240 2.3 GL estate, a 740 2.3 GLT estate, a 740 2.0 SE saloon, and a 740 2.0 Auto GL estate. I bought the 240 when we started having kids. Mrs. Tunku rolled it with our three kids and her mum in it. No injuries ensued, everyone walked out Scot-free, and the car looked fine. I was so impresssed I kept buying Volvos.
The kids grew up, I was made redundant and was at one time forced to buy horrible French diesel cars to prevent myself from having to walk or use Public Tranport everywhere. I'm still not sure whether the stink of diesel in a private car is worse than the stink of using public transport. However, I am now in a position to use a Volvo petrol engined barge again, and after the test drive,I can only say one thing. Now I'm old, the seats in a large Volvo have got even better. I think I'll actually live in this one.

Well, after a week of 12 hour night shifts and other stuff, I went and got the V70 this evening. Drove home in big wafty style. First thing I noticed was it has 88,000 on the clock not 98,000 as advertised. Must admit I never noticed on the test drive. When I got home, I found a 10 CD changer in the rear nearside panel in the load area, works too.
