calling all XC90 Owners....have you had any AWD issues?

I'm very interested as my Sister is looking at XC90 D5s.
If so how much did it cost you to have it repaired?
If it is a problem but not a big ££££'s Problem, then not so bad in the grand scheme of things

I have an '04 S60R which suffered the angle gear failure that I guess you're alluding to. Cost me around £1200 to fix it. Seems to be a problem on the pre-'06 cars only - they seem to have resolved the issue 2006 onwards with a much stronger part. Certainly, mine has given no further problem since being replaced.

My father had a V70 AWD which had an angle gear failure luckily the aftermarket warranty covered the >£1000 repair bill.

It also had 2 replacement propshafts, the third effectively wrote the car off.

A friend has an XC90 and has had quite a few probs with 4wd, not sure exactly what as it has become a sore subject! It has been off the road at least 3 times with the same problem. They wont be buying another!

No problems here with 40k miles (30k of which are mine) on our 06 185bhp euro iv d5 xc90.
