Having umm and ahh'd on the choice of workhorse ranging from 4x4's and all large estate varieties....

Now narrowed it down to a V70...with a budget of around £2000, if cheaper then hey ho!!

Which V70 should I get which will prove most reliable for frequent stop start journeys followed by the occasional 200 mile trip...MPG not important really but reliability is key...

Thanks for any wisdom in advance.....

D5 for MPG , T5 for sts and giggles no huge reliability issues with either as far as my limited knowledge will extend i recently moved from an Alfa 156 V6 to a D5 very happy with my purchase

I'm in the middle of deciding which V70 to have. I'm settling on a petrol 140 HP for cheapness/longevity.

I've found T5's aren't quite as reliable as non turbos but thats not to say there not any good because they are still superb motors - If we're talking the "classic" shape i'd say go the earlier models

Have hd several V70s from an S reg 10 valve 140bhp to the V70 250bhpT5. I find the best on fuel I had was a 2002 2.4 170bhp auto which averaged over 35mpg, but I use my car mostly for long rund of over 80+ miles.

Go for a T5, you won't go wrong. Comes with the power you might need without being thirsty. Ask any member of the 'Constabulary'cop

Careful with a £2K T5. Most forget that the turbos like to cool down!

Having said the above bigmouth , if you find a nice well looked after example, go for it and enjoy.

I've got a phase 1 manual V70R if anyone's interested. I bought it earlier this year to take the family on holiday to the South of France, which it did faultlessly. It's got a full service history, 123k miles and had new tyres and brakes just before the trip.

I've not got around to advertising it yet but I paid £2,800 for it in July, so would be looking for around that much. If no interest on here initially I'll put a proper ad together and stick it in the classifieds.

The pics are from this morning!

/\/\ That's really nice. If I wasn't 17 and skint I'd have your arm off, you should have no difficulty selling it to be honest.

Get a T5. My dad had an 850 T5 and it never let us down in 10 years and 100k miles.
