V50 T5 - Handling like a greased pig on acid!
Discussion
Greetings all
Just taken delivery of my V50 T5 and love every part – except its total inability to go round corners.
I’m sure its not me, as have driven powerful fwd cars before, but this just ploughs straight on traction control working overtime and it feels like driving on ice!
Please tell me they are not all this bad?
Any ideas what could help?

Cheap and nasty - so they are first option to change, but hoping that there are some tried and tested standard fixes that are accepted as a good idea.
e.g. Has anyone looked at if the rims will take somthing slightley wider?
There appears to be lots of people offering lowering kits but not stiffer springs, roll bar, bushes, damping etc
Not that interested in engine mods though these appear to be the most common suggestion?

Because obviously when driving a car that won't corner, more power is always the first port of call! e.g. Has anyone looked at if the rims will take somthing slightley wider?

I would recommend having a browse on HERE! or speaking to the likes of Kalmar Union, or the UK distributor for Heico parts.
As owner of two V50s neither of which had any problem like you have I'd say get the car, steering etc aligned and checked, then get some decent rubber on it.
The handling and steering aren't particularly inspiring tbh, but mine even on P7s certainly grips quite reasonably.
You've done the obvious and checked pressures I assume, some muppets run them at very high settings due to Volve "eco" recommendations, but even then the grip is still there.

Thanks for the info - did a run and tyre temperature check and the heat is consistent across the face of the tread.
Which does point towards it being rubbish rubber rather than a geometry problem.
Perhaps I’m just surprised how rubbish; last week I could not shake off a mini cooper through my favourite bends due to the car just sliding away. (They may have been a good driver but I was certainly not testing their skill).
The Kuhmo Ecsta KU31 is an interesting suggestion – I guess you have a part worn set to sell? – Personally I was thinking off something a tad more sticky.
