Looking at an 850 which is badged as a 2.5 GLE.

How would I know if it was the 140 or 170bhp model?

Cheers

Could be either, GLE's were available with either engine. Have you got the reg, could try some askmid search or other search to see if spec is listed. Or whack if into gocompare or something and should list the Bhp or if 10 or 20 v

Thanks.

I tried running it through the rac data checker and it just states 2.5 GLE.

Go compare for some reason lists it as a T5

Checked the VIN plate and it is a 140bhp version.

Slightly odd question: if it has a CD autochanger fitted where will it be?

The ten disk sony autochanger was situated on the left of the boot of my Dad's old 850. All cars have special mounting points under the carpet for them.

Thanks. Collecting the car on Saturday morning so will have a look for it then.

If it hasn't got one, I assume it is not too hard to fit an aftermarket one?

Shouldn't be, I fitted one to mine, but for ease of wiring I ran the wiring to under the passenger seat. Keeps it out of eye view and stops it getting knocked. The cable from the stereo to changer is a bit annoying to find as it is a volvo part. Trying to remember where the instructions are.

You can go all the way to the boot but I would stop earlier and route it to the passenger chair. Saves moving as much trim as well. Cable should always run down the left hand side of the car.

Almost forgot, you will need snap on twin cable connectors to piggyback power from the main stereo cable.
