Friday afternoon built C70 rag top?
Discussion
I bought the wife a C70 convertible back in January of this year from a local main dealer, the car has just turned 5 years old, 30K on the clock when i bought it and came with a full Volvo SH, so you would not think its a dog? Since owning it (7 months), it has been back to the main dealer umpteen times for the following issues;
1. Water leak - Initially it went back twice and their 1st pass it was diognosed with leaking door mirror seals, both sides were changed on the 2nd visit, only to find after the 1st down pour there was still water pisisting down the passenger door pillar onto the carpet. After taking off the interior door trims myself and the wife standing with a hose on full pelt, it turned out it was the door shut seal that meets the windscreen pillar. The car went back in to have a whole new door/windscreen pillar seal. Problem fixed until today, i now find its leaking on the drivers side.
2. Creaky steering rack - It has gone in twice because of a horrible creaking sound when the steering is on full lock. I now find that once this starts its easier for me to crawl underneath the car and grease those silly plastic things on the steering rack arms.
3. Starting problem - Had to have a new ignition barrel 2 months ago, i was told by the MD that this was an issue on these cars - problem cured but for 90% of starts.
4. A new noise has appeared from the front when turning left hand corners only (it don't have to be on full lock, in fact any lock will do - I cant just do right hand corners or i will wind up finishing where i started). It appears to be speed related and the tapping noise changes speed depending on the speed its being driven at.
This is the 1st time in my 25 years of driving (and i have had my fair share of cars over that period, from GM, Mercedes, Lexus and Fords blar blar blar), if this is what Volvos are like then it is likely to be the last... Anybody here got any opinions other than my current thoughts that the car has to go at the 1st opportunity!!!

My 2002 C70 Coupe used to creak on full lock. They have to grease the steering stops.
My ignition starter thing also went. Was a £60 fix.
The rest of the car was pretty good, but altogether I would say it was the worst put together model from Volvo. We have had around 10 different Volvos, and both C70s we had were rattly/creaky.
The new-gen C70 is much much better, but its still not a driver's car. It makes you feel numb and bored.

Your Dealer hasn't got a clue - take it to a specialist
I was begining to wonder that but its still under warranty and not sure if i take it to a specialist if it will affect that? Something worth checking out mind...Might be worth looking into, since your dealer seems completely inept.
