Talk to be about this car.
i've driven the S60R (04 plate)
i'm thinking of upgrading the saab with a V70R (ideally manual) and probably 05+ plate onwards.
What do I need to know about reliability what do I need to look out for.
How long do tyres/brakes last?
what is the MPG on motorway runs?
All comments good and bad please.
cheers

I have a later R and for the cosmetic changes alone its worth it over an earlier R.
I can do a few hundred miles a day in mine and after 120k miles, no haldex, engine or gearbox trouble to speak of and that's running a stage 2 map too. I think the later cars had the upgraded haldex bits and bobs.
mpg varies hugely I've found, at 70 it will avg 33mpg, very acceptable for a car with circa 350hp but sit at 80 ish and the average drops to 24/25mpg.
I just replaced my front pads, although huge brembo callipers, pagid pads were 38 pounds from eurocarparts, discs not so cheap but still under 100.
Tyres will last a bit longer than the T5 but don't expect mega miles as its still got a lot of torque.
my old man likes mine so much he's got me on the hunt for one for him, although later 55/06 models in the right spec are hard to find - good luck, most seem to be gaytronic.

Seems quite hard to find one local (ish) to see how the V70 R drives. I do around 20K a year so it needs to be reliable. How long do the tyres last?
cheers

Had my '03 V70R Geartronic since Oct.08
What I had to say about it a year ago... still of the same opinion

Best car I've ever owned... easily.

I remember that thread - and still have an inward sigh every time I see an R badged S60/V70... In the end I got a deal on a leased Mercedes that was too good to pass up. I'm looking at C70s for the soon to be Mrs. SVX though, so any wisdom in that area would be be greatly appreciated. What I had to say about it a year ago... still of the same opinion
