A work colleague has issues with his car running down the battery and not charging. The alternator has been out and checked by an alternator place and deemed as new, even after 100k miles. The battery is also new. The alternator light goes out on the dash when started, but the power is not getting to the battery to charge it. Is there any inline fuses or anything that we need to look for?
Cheers for any help.

When was the old battery changed? If it was changed before the alternator checked and repaired, the faulty alternator may cause to damage the battery. I would try different battery (from different car)to give some test that the repaired alternator works appropriately. Please share once the problem fixed..

In reply to this, the Volvo garage has said that the alternators brushes get stuck on these models fitted to the cars. Just by taking it out and testing it is enough for it to make contact again. They said it may not happen again and if it does, just fit some new brushes. Car has been fine now for 2 weeks.

Just to resurface this. The problem was still on going after a little while. An auto electrician found the positive connection where all the lives meet was all corroded up and causing the issues on the back of the starter motor. 10 minutes of fault finding, jobs a good un.So check the connection for corrosion, such a silly thing to cause all manner of problems.
