I've recently picked up a '97 / phase 1 V70R, which unfortunately a PO has smoked in. I've shampoo'ed the headlining and carpets twice and cleaned the seats using leather cleaner, which has improved things a lot, but a faint whiff remains.
Does anyone know if there is a pollen filter fitted, and if so where it might be? Any other tips to get rid of the smell? I'll be using it to take the family down to the south of France in the summer so could do with losing the pong!

Some cars come with a pollen filter fitted, some don't. You can retrofit a pollen filter but you'll need to buy an additional housing.
The filter is located under the panel below the windscreen, and at the passenger side:
By all means change and/or fit a new pollen filter, but I'd be more inclined to use one of those aircon 'bomb' type things to shift the smell. I think some valeting companies have 'fogging' machines which can be used for odour removal.

Thanks - I'm already on t5d5.org - albeit with only one post to my name! In fact the car came from another forum member over there. I'll give volvoforums a look as well - I have a couple of niggles with the car which I'm trying to work through at the moment but overall I'm pretty impressed with itGassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
