Morning Volvistas,
An unimportant question for the morning... The OH and I have just ordered a new V50 in Barents Blue Metallic. We wanted the Brilliant Blue but that's not available in the MY2011 range apparently. So Barents Blue was already a compromise and now I'm thinking the Black would be better. Any opinions on the choice? Given that we're planning to keep this car for a long time, my thoughts are that the black is more "timeless" than the blue but will need more frequent washing.
For those that are interested it's a V50 2.0d R-Design with the new "D4" engine (177PS, 400Nm, turbo-5-cyl).
Cheers,
E.

Current. Black
Previous. Barent's Blue
One before that: That really dark grey that I forget the name of.
As you can see, have voted for black, despite the trepidations it looks well.
The Barents Blue looked OK but nothing special tbh. Even when clean and shiny.
When the black is clean.
Looks well in white too but you can get mistaken for plod, which you might like, personally I don't.

Did you get a date of delivery off your dealer?
I was quoted July 12th & now I've just been told the Volvo dealer can't order the car until July because of the new changes.
I was expecting a V50 R deisgn 2.0D 4cyl with powershift (Barents blue). Now it's a 2.0D D3 with geartronic.
So that will make it a September / October delivery! AAAAH!
Disappointment all round really. I might get something else instead?

It's a nightmare at the moment, we've had a few orders turned down for V50 and S40 2.0D and had to reorder with D3.I was quoted July 12th & now I've just been told the Volvo dealer can't order the car until July because of the new changes.

Similar story on a V70 last week, had the quote, sent the order, comes back Errr sorry can't do that...
Volvo reps running around talking up a good story but it's clear that cummunication is not good and they are not at all clear what the Geely deal will bring.
All in all, if you particularly wanted Powershift then you have a good excuse to cancel, if you wanted a V50 with auto you'll be happy with Geartronic.
Have been impressed with an XC60 recently, 4x4 SUV and soft roaders are not a favourite of mine but this XC60 punted along very satisfactorily.
We're looking at mid-June. It seems D4 cars are going into production first followed by the D3 cars at the end of August.
In the MY2011 brochure (Volvo UK Customer Services will email it to you if you can't find it), there are little tags next to some of the models saying production won't start until Aug/Sept.
