850 Diagnostics
Discussion
Maybe someone can clarify this for me: Late 1995 850 20V. Is it OBD2 compliant? I'm currently having a polite argument on ebay with a sellar over whether the scanner is bust. They say my car must not be compliant.
I think I'm correct. It's a 16 pin port under the coinholder infront of the gearstick. It even has OBD2 stamped nearby. There isn't a diagnostics port in the engine bay so the car can't have an older system that volvo used.

Hi, I've got a '96 850 with the same port. Pain isn't it
There's Volvo specific readers/software that will do it apparently but I've never seen any. The wiring to the socket works the same as the old under-bonnet one & you can rig up an LED based flash reader.

Cheers.

The only software that I'm aware of that works is VOL-FCR, available here : http://www.ilexa.co.uk/acatalog/volfcr.html
It's not cheap, and requires a PC/laptop & suitable cable - but it does work.
