Which V50 front brake pads?

I've just got a strange squealing front the front of my V50 sport. When I had it serviced in September they said I had about 6 months left on the brakes, so I’m assuming the front brake pads need changing.
What are some good fast road pads for this car? Has anybody got any experiences? I don't want anything too hard that I have to thrash the car to get them to work as it is my daily driver. I'm assuming some good after market performance pads are gong to be cheaper than genuine?

I wouldn't put anything from EBC on anything that actually needed to stop. If it's a road car then Volvo stock pads will be best.
