Just bought one of these - wondering how to best get a bit more torque from it, feels a bit flat compared to more modern diesels. Not overly keen on chips which just increase the fuel - can it be remapped ?

Anything to watch ? Last service it had the belt changed and the pump timing adjusted.

Sorry, no experience with the diesel engine - might be worth looking at http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/

Ask your question at www.t5d5.org - lots of folks with experience of mapping diesel Volvos there.

if its feels very flat it could be a faulty maf sensor.

had a tuning box on mine and even without it, it was briliant.

I can vouch for it's performance of Pikeyboys Volvo. Just don't try to keep up with a Focus RS as they have better brakes! wink

Which year? up to 1999 you can use the vw diag stuff on them and any vw mapping kit etc. in 1999 they moved to a newer version of the bosch engine management system so the last of the 'classic' v70s and the early newer ones (pre D5) are a bit of a problem - you need the volvo tools to do much with them.

A couple of easy ways to identify a 'new' classic - the badge on the bonnet is blue rather than black and the screen washers are square rather than round.
