first time ive posted on this forum, so apologies
if i get it wrong. im looking for advice ie cost,
power gains and who to trust with a remap on my t5.
at the moment it is completely standard enginewise
apart from an induction kit and a custom made cat back
system, the car has had a reasonably easy life as i know the one and only owner, 80,000 miles and a shed full of receipts from volvo dealers for servicing. I am based in scotland so any advice and/or suggestions would
gratefully be appreciated. forgot to mention its a ph 1.

Ok, I'll bite...

I've looked at your car's spec in your profile and, don't take this the wrong way, but there's no way you have 300bhp at the moment - you're more likely looking at 270/280.

Also, if you have got it remapped to "300hp" then why do you need another remap?

As for who to get a map from, you are most likely best sticking to people who know Volvos- MTE, RICA, BSR.

Budget for about £300 for an off the shelf map, you'll have to send your ecu away to get it done.

You could do worse than have a look at http://forums.t5d5.org/ . It's not the most active forum in the world, but the depth of volvo tuning knowledge there is excellent -folks running 4 & 500hp daily drivers smile

cheers for the input, the power output is apparently not what i was told as i have run imprezzas with 300bhp+
and my car although i know is no lightweight feels very slow in comparison.

Not for MTE and Rica - programmable via the OBD port

FWIW I would go with MTE

AFAIK Rica do not program pre ME7 ecu's via the OBD port, but I am well aware that MTE do.

Either way, as the o/p doesn't have a Rica or MTE agent in his locale then the ECU will have to be sent to the tuner.

I currently have a Rica chip in my ECU but am likely to be getting my spare ECU tuned by MTE in the near future.

The smart money these days is on MTE as you state.

There is a company called CCC tech who I've used before...and he'll travel to you (Scotland) if you want. Plus he should be able to answer most queries/questions you have
