Hi all, looking to possibly chop in the Corolla for a more suited Family car.

I'm interested in the V50, as it's not seen as a Hot Rod by the Wifes family, or for a matter of fact, any of my family.

Infact buying an Ovlov would gain me mucho Brownie points- they will be pretty much unaware of the 200bhp engine (Unless the MiL starts giving me grief in the car- I usually press the loud pedal to surpress any conversation I don't likebiggrin )

Can the engine be chipped up like the Focus ST al la Revo, as I do believe thay share the same engine & running gear.

So, say for example I purchase a T5 AWD & I have around £1000 to play with.

Where would be best place to start?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, whats the name of the Volvo place that does the tuning parts- Kalmar Union is it?

Probably a remap from Rica or BSR. Then a noiice zorst...i think BSR do some nice ones.
A powerflex top mount for the engine could be a nice cheap and easy mod just to hear the 5 pot a tad more smile

And that would be what, around the 260bhp mark?

I can't seem to find much info on chipping the Volvo. I made a quick phonecall to GGR who wanted £2100 + VAT for fitting an exhaust induction kit, chip & an uprated Intercooler.

I thought it was a little steep for what you get. Especially as the exhaust was only a hi-flow cat & downpipe...

Anyway, from what I read on here back in 2007/08 people were talking about chipping the 2.5 I5 engine being risky.

Can the engines run 260-300bhp reliably?

The older T5 engines that were 2.3T could quite easily take 300bhp, but i believe the newer T5 engine is now a bored out taking it up to 2.5 . There have been a few instances where *something has cracked in the engine, but im not very technical* smile

Contact Don on here, i have heard he's very useful and his posts are really good;

I wouldn't expect a Rica re-map to cost you too much, maybe £300 or so?

Check out T5D5.org

or

www.volvoforums.org.uk

T5D5 may help a listen bit more as its focused on the higher performance Ovlovs.

There is a company called CCC Technology who chip/tune the V50 T5 and they're pretty reasonable
