My wife's 2002 T5 has got a hissing noise whenever the brake pedal is not depressed. I thought/hoped it might be a leaking pipe, but I had it serviced today and they say it's the servo. Does anyone know if these are available as a reconditioned part? The car has DSTC by the way, just in case that matters. Thanks all, hope someone can help!

We had this - not a common fault apparently. The actual part isn't too expensive, it's the labour as they have to drop the subframe etc to replace. Cost me about £550 at an independent. You can try lubricating the carbon seals as a temporary measure.

Thanks for the info, interesting that you say the part was not the expensive bit as my quote was over £400 for the servo, but only 2 hours to fit at an indy, hence my search for a re-con unit.

Let me know how you get on. I tried to find my invoice but no joy - it was a couple of years ago now. Touch wood it has been the only blight on the car.
