Hello all,

Im looking for a change in car, something pretty quick and im looking to spend as little as possible!

I have noticed C70's as they seem cheap as chips, one sold on here for about £1500! id be looking to spen a wee bit more.

The 2.4t's looks pretty good, anyone got any advice? any current owners out there?

As milage doesnt bother me id prob get something in the region of 100-140k,

cheers

With out a doubt - they're awesome cars - My business partner has just bought a 2.5-20v GT for 2K with just 60k on the clock - awesome motor and very well made/reliable

Check for body damage (really common on C70's for some reason)

Fly by why throttles can play up but they can be cleaned out and reset - we charge around £70 to clean and reset them. check the breather system - they block if run on crap oil,

We've seen the odd airflow sensor go but it's not common

We've also seen the odd steering rack go, again, not common but £600 to replace - check the condition of the fluid and make sure the steering isn't noisey or heavy

Rear exhaust brackets rot (dirt cheap to fix)

Front wishbone bushes wear out if they've been thrashed around

Make sure the brake calipers and the master cylinder are sound - rear calipers have a habit of siezing up and master cylinders weap - check the servo on the bulkhead for corrosion caused by leaking brake fluid, also the pedal should be firm and the brakes powerful

and despite what Volvo say, make sure the Cambelt is changed every 50k (if it's due knock £200 off the price)- we've replaced them at 45-50k and they are already showing signs of deterioration

Hope this helps a bit!

Cracking cars just beware of the common faults, as alot arent cheap to fix. Generally bomb proof cars though on the major mechanicals.
