ht leads and distrubutor on c70

i have been told if a C70 volvo has Ht leads ands a distributor it wont have an ETM.

where do i find the HT leads and distributor on the car?

does anyone know how else i can tell if a a c70 has an etm or not

on the end of the cam cover - Right hand side - there will be an orange distributor (sometimes covered with a black piece of plastic with 6 leads coming from it - one going to the ignition coil and 5 going under the black plastic spark plug cover (bit that says Volvo on it)- if there it will be located to the left of the air box near the top engine mount

could only find a pic of an 850 engine (similar layout):


the distributor will be underneath the pipe work going over the top of the engine next to where it say "20 Valve" only the very early C70's didn't have ETM - don't let it put you off - they're not as bad as people make out - most failiures are caused by poor of incorrect maintainance

thanks morganpr, well i am after the early C70 just because they dont have the etm failures. i know this will mean getting an older car but i have heard so many stories with faulty etms i would rather get an older model

Not sure they made a c70 that was pre me7 could be wrong though

c70 started production 1997, so i was thinking if i gt a 97 or 98 car it wont have etm

There are definitely pre ME7 (motronic 4.4) C70s, a friend of mine has just written his off
